How this tool works
Twitch's revenue model is confusing: Tier 1 subs cost $4.99 but the streamer doesn't keep all of it. Standard split is 50/50 (50% Twitch, 50% you). Only a handful of negotiated partners get 70/30. Bits are $0.01 each to streamer. Third-party donations have processing fees.
This calculator sums the four sources (subs by tier, bits, donations, processing fee) for real monthly gross income. Useful for deciding if streaming is viable as primary income or you should keep your job + stream part-time.
Frequently asked questions
- When do I get 70/30 split?
- Almost never by default. Twitch offered it to top streamers negotiated individually since 2022; the rest stays 50/50. Official 2026 policy keeps 50/50 as standard.
- How much are bits worth?
- $0.01 USD per bit to streamer. User buys them from Twitch in packs (100 bits = $1.40 to user). Twitch keeps $0.40 per pack. For you: 1,000 bits = $10.
- What about Prime Subs?
- Same split as Tier 1 ($4.99 → $2.50 to streamer in 50/50). Prime Subs count for active sub count but revenue is the same.
- Is streaming worth it vs YouTube?
- Twitch converts better in subs/donations per streamed hour. YouTube pays better in CPM per recorded video. If your strength is edited video, compare with the YouTube calculator.
