SEO ROI Calculator
Traffic, conversion and revenue per keyword.
How this tool works
SEO is the marketing channel with the worst ROI reporting because results take 6-12 months and nobody runs numbers upfront. Consequence: budgets cut at first quarterly review.
This calculator fixes that: takes search volume, target CTR (depends on position you aim for), conversion rate and average order value, and returns estimated monthly revenue, profit and real ROI vs your SEO cost. If ROI is positive at 6 months, defend the budget.
Frequently asked questions
- What CTR by position?
- Top 1: 28-32%. Top 3: 12-18%. Top 5: 6-10%. Top 10: 2-4%. Page 2: <1%. These drop in SERPs with AI Overviews and featured snippets above your result.
- How do I estimate SEO cost?
- Sum: agency/freelance + tools (Ahrefs/Semrush ~$200/mo) + content writers + internal hours (× your hourly cost via rate calculator). Don't forget tech infra cost if migration is needed.
- When does ROI turn positive?
- Month 1-3: negative (investing, no traffic). Month 4-6: traffic starts, break-even near. Month 7-12: positive if strategy is good. If still negative at month 12: keyword research or execution problem.
- Does it work for e-commerce?
- Yes — but adjust CTR to 'comparison shopping' (lower on commercial queries) and multiply AOV by LTV/repeat rate. Much of SEO value in ecom comes from returning users, not first purchase.
